The fundamental principles in the specially designed music sound environment "MusiCure" was created by the classically educated composer and oboist Niels Eje, who in cooperation with doctors, nurses and music therapists, initialized and attended the Musica Humana project - a project which was established with support from the Egmont Foundation in 1998.

MusiCure is a special kind of musical ‘sound-pictures’ or ‘music sound-environment’ which are created specifically for a variety of treatment and research purposes, but at the same time is intended for a very broad use as calming, relaxing, inspiring and mentally motivating music for all.
One of the fundamental pillars of the MusiCure music is the idea of the music's relation to the first "music" we hear in the embryonic stages, our mother's heartbeat, which lies in a constant basic rhythm throughout the creation of us as human beings.

The "genre-less" element is also important because the use of music for relaxation and stress relief shouldn’t be felt as a distraction or demand special attention in the situation – meaning that the listener must not associate the music with any particular genre or style, but simply experience it as a series of sound images, on the intuitive and subconscious level, and
feel the soothing, relaxing and stimulating effect.

The core idea of the music is such that it must work both physically calming, relaxing and soothing, whilst simultaneously providing mental stimulation and inspiration for the listener's imagination, and ability to dream and create optimistic inner pictures.
Another core element of the MusiCure music is the use of edited natural sounds in symbiosis with the music, and this aspect is very important for the positive results obtained with MusiCure. Composer Niels Eje record most of the natural atmospheres which are used continuously and he travels around the world recording new sounds on a regular basis.
To achieve the ‘floating’ feeling of being in a universal/neutral musical sound universe, the composer uses specially developed composition and production techniques, based on more than 10 years of experience and continuous editing of the material according to direct feedback from users of music.

The musicians on the MusiCure productions are all professionally trained classical artists and the acoustic solo instruments include Oboe, Harp, Cello, Piano, Flute, Guitar, Horn and others, which, combined with strings, sampled sounds and authentic natural sounds represents the sound-basis for the MusiCure music.
Since 2003, selected sections of the music has been available in pharmacies and online through the composer's own record label ‘Gefion Records’, and today the applicability and use of MusiCure goes far beyond the established health care system.
